In 1960, USA runner Otis Davis surprised the world by winning the 400 meter final in one of the most dramatic races in Olympic history. His showdown with German runner Carl Kaufmann in the Summer Olympic Games in Rome, Italy ended in a photo-finish. Not only did both runners beat the world record, they both broke the 45-second mark in the event which had never been accomplished in competition prior to that time. My story on this amazing athlete and his incredible Olympic performance is over at Roll Bama Roll.
