Weekly Training Rundown July 30-Aug 5

Another month down, another one begins. How was your training last week?

Mayo: 37 of 42 planned miles. Took Sunday off to ensure that I'm recovered from Saturday's long run. Felt good otherwise. Strong week; lofty week.

  • Tuesday: 7 miles (8:37 pace). The old monuments/White House run to finish the month of August. Felt good, started the week out well.
  • Wednesday: 5 miles (8:37). Nondescript, good run.
  • Thursday: 7 miles (9:00). One or two walking breaks, felt good overall.
  • Saturday: 18 miles (10:23). Got going around 7:15 in the morning, headed west along the Mall/towpath. Felt good, kept my water intake low early on, so I had enough to get back to the water fountain at mile 10. Walked through a fountain to cool off at mile 14, and kept moving through the sun/heat/humidity all the way home. Felt quite good, all things considered. Napped like a bawse Saturday afternoon (and missed the Olympic 10k). Longest run in 18 months.
  • Sunday: Took the day off to recover.

Next week: 6/4/6/14/5. Looking forward to the slightly down week; things really pick up after this week so I'm going to do what I can to recover well.
