Happy Marine Corps Marathon registration day!
The 37th running of "The People's Marathon" opens its registration Wednesday at 3 p.m. EST. It's a great course, taking runners through Georgetown, past the monuments, and by the Pentagon before finishing near the Iwo Jima Memorial, and it's extremely well organized (hardly surprising with the Marines involved)
And if you're in the area, head over to the Marine Corps Marathon Registration Roadshow, in Rosslyn. You can't actually register there, but hey, free stuff!
[The Roadshow] pulls into the finish line host community of Rosslyn, VA on Wednesday, March 7 from noon to 1:30 p.m. for a grand celebration of the opening of 2012 MCM registration.
The running and spectating public is invited to join the fun on the East side of 19th and Lynn Streets outside the Rosslyn metro station for giveaways, prizes, tons of free vintage MCM shirts and entertainment by Mix 107.3 FM.

It is that time of year that Austinites both love and, with each passing year, increasingly dread: SXSW. If you are one of the few looking to get a good run between 20-min live sets, free beer, and pretending that you knew twitter was going to be huge in 2006, know that Austin is brilliant place to get some miles in. Below I've highlighted 3 areas that connect through the downtown area. There are many more in and around the city but if you are visiting for SXSW, it is likely you'll be in the downtown core.
