VIDEO: Steve Bell's reason for running

Steve Bell runs because he knows that someday, he won't be able to. What do you run for?

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

This is Steve Bell. Steve Bell has cystic fibrosis, a disease that causes a sticky mucus to build up in the lungs.

But despte it all, Bell runs. Even a daily, hour-long process with a machine called The Vest -- coupled with upwards of 70 pills a day -- hasn't stopped him from running marathons.

I run because I enjoy it. ... I run because I can.

Running marathons ... puts me in my happy place.

Bell's story is part of Dick's Sporting Goods Run For campaign, "true stories of triumph, loss, friendship, redemption, and the simple love of running."
