Missed this somehow last month -- and normally my coverage of races in Slovenia is so thorough -- but the Red Bull 400 was held at the Planica ski jump hill. That's right -- the ski jumping hill.
The race is only 400 meters, but it's nearly straight-up, with runners starting at the base of the hill and climbing (and it's really more climbing than running) a 200 meter ascent.
2013 was just the second edition of the race, which is billed as the "steepest in Europe," but it's hard to imagine anything much steeper.
Planica is the largest site for ski jumping in the world, and indeed, some of the photos from Red Bull's gallery are absolutely terrifying.
