The men's marathon and some entertaining trials in the men's steeple and 800 and women's 1500 should get the meet started out right.

The running events at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing will start with the men's Marathon tonight at 7:35 PM EST. Although the Americans are not represented by their finest marathoners, the field is unfathomably strong otherwise. 6 sub-2:06 and 24 sub-2:10 marathoners will compete in what could very well end up as the most exciting event of the week.

Later on, Evan Jager will make his first statement against the Kenyan dominance of the Steeplechase. Shannon Rowbury and Jenny Simpson will then strive to avoid disaster in the heats of the 1500m, followed closely by the non-Nick Symmonds Americans fighting to make it through the heats of the mens 800m.

It should be an exciting first night and this will be your thread for it.
