The Boston Marathon, one of the world's most iconic races, is set for its 177th running on Monday, April 15. The legendary 26.2-mile course stretches from Hopkinton to Copley Square in Boston, with the elite women set to start things off at 9:32 a.m. ET on Marathon Monday, but the weekend is full of other activities, like Saturday night's New Balance Midnight Run.
Set for a start time of 11 p.m. (at Boylston and Dartmouth), the run is four miles and is "guided by Paul Revere and his friends. It's a free run, and will offer flashing lights, LED hats and other give-aways.
Number pick-up for those running in the race is all weekend, culminating with Sunday's hours of 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday is also the day of the 2013 Boston Athletic Association 5K, making its fifth annual appearance. The B.A.A. 5K is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start, and is followed by the famous B.A.A. Invitational Mile, which features 2008 Olympic silver medalist Nick Willis and 2010 World Indoor Champion Kalkidan Gezahegne.
Sunday ends with the Pre-Race Dinner for runners (4:30-8 p.m.).
On Monday, marathon will first hear the gun at 9 a.m. for the Mobility Impaired division; the elite men start at 10 a.m.
The Boston Marathon will be streamed live online at http://watchlive.baa.org/, starting at 9:30 a.m., and will be aired locally on WBZ -TV and nationally on Universal Sports, beginning at 9 a.m.
