Pittsfield native Tyler Cowan, who attends Syracuse University, will be participating in the Boston Marathon in April with his fellow Army ROTC members. But while other runners wear as little as possible to cut down on weight during the 26.2-mile trek, Cowan and the other cadets will be in combat gear and lugging 40-pound packs in order to raise money and awareness for an organization that helps wounded veterans reintegrate into civilian life.
