It was a weekend of races and revelry as we marked St. Patrick's Day and moved toward the start of spring this week. Runners across the country faced blustery winds, hail and hypothermia in their various contests like Mr. Brian Lampe in New York shown above. Here's a rundown of some of those races.

Pittsfield native will run Boston Marathon in combat gear to help veterans. - Berkshire Eagle Online

Pittsfield native Tyler Cowan, who attends Syracuse University, will be participating in the Boston Marathon in April with his fellow Army ROTC members. But while other runners wear as little as possible to cut down on weight during the 26.2-mile trek, Cowan and the other cadets will be in combat gear and lugging 40-pound packs in order to raise money and awareness for an organization that helps wounded veterans reintegrate into civilian life.
