Despite just running a 1500m in Zurich on Thursday, Jenny Simpson took home her fifth consecutive win in the 5th Avenue Mile. The race went out fast in 64 seconds for the first quarter mile and 2:10 or so for the half. Aside from a brief move by Morgan Uceny at about 750 meters, three Zurich competitors—Simpson, Laura Muir, Kate Grace—led the entire race.

With 400m to go, road mile specialist Heather Kampf made a push to challenge Simpson and Muir, but she just didn’t have the gear to keep up with their response to her move, though she did manage to hold off Amanda Eccleston for third.

Top 5:

  1. Jenny Simpson 4:18.3
  2. Laura Muir 4:18.5
  3. Heather Kampf 4:19.8
  4. Amanda Eccleston 4:20.7
  5. Kate Grace 4:22.7
