Taking you around the track with the big links

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

There is a lot going on in the world of track and field, so let's get you up to speed.

Lap 1

Guess how many people finished this years Barkleys? One. The answer is one. This race is notorious for being ridiculous, and there is a phenomenal documentary on it that was put on Netflix just in time for people to get excited for the 2016 edition.

Lap 2

10 college runners got their olympic standards this past weekend. With the Olympics and Olympic Trials this summer, runners are beginning to hit the necessary times to qualify, and in one weekend alone 10 NCAA athletes got it. Possibly most impressive of all was Andres Arroyo of the University of Florida, who ran the 800 meters in a blistering 1:45.

Lap 3

This one comes from a blog, but is a really interesting story. A running blogger who qualified for this year's Boston Marathon has been banned from the race for giving away her bib last year. The details are interesting, and it's well worth a quick read.

Lap 4

Geoffrey Mutai is out of this year's Boston. The 2011 race winner withdrew from this year's race due to not meeting his training goals. At 34, it makes you wonder how much he has left in the tank, but he'll hopefully be back in Boston in 2017.

That is all for today. Have a great Wednesday and get a good run in.
